These pictures illustrate 2002 festival. The Six Bells Folk & Blues Club staged an Irish theme night with a special guest Brian Houston, a successful singer songwriter supported by The Amazing Pilots. Bell ringing. Bell Captain Tim Waterman and his team rang a full peal of changes on the eight bells of Chiddingly Church. A joyous celebration of Spanish music and dance performed by one of Europes leading flamenco companies, Alma, features the electrifying dancing of Felipe de Algeciras, Carmela Romero and Ann Garcia, the glorious voice of Jasmine Villalobos and the thrilling guitar-playing of Ramon Ruiz. Plus a meal of Tapas prepared by…. "Todo es a la Buena de Dios"! John Cooper Clarke and Steve Tesane provided poetry. en-Compass ran a series of hands-on workshops in the marquee including print making, computer modification of images and pinhole cameras. Plus an Arts & Crafts Show. Workshops, including Morris Dancing. Peter Searles told stories of his seven month trek through South America. He described in amusing and exciting detail his adventures, from the time he landed (at Caracas, until the journey finally leads him to a lost world in remotest part of Amazonia. Legendary folk duo Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick performed at the village hall in front of a packed and appreciative audience. Lee Gibson, known for her musicality and swing accompanied on piano by none other than the great Geoff Eales and his trio provided a memorable Jazz evening. Lipstick, Luger, Lights - or "Chercher la Femme" was this years Village Play Directed by Patrick O'Hare and Produced by Lindsay Wiggens.
Rumplysilkskin, a bee who
could not fly
because her wings are all rumpled provided entertainment for the village
children. The
story involved a challenge, a daring scheme and
a giant teaspoon… This years concert held in the village church featured the Romanian Youth Orchestra. The festival ended, as always with the torchlight procession and fireworks.
