Acclaimed as one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century (despite his tragically early death by firing squad), Federico García Lorca distilled into his final work, La casa de Bernarda Alba, the very essence of Spain: the heat and riotous colour, the joy, passion, comedy and tragedy... perfect for Flamenco.

La Passionata Flamenca, an international company of Flamenco dancers, guitarists, singer and percussionist, and narrator will re-create Lorca’s play in a fiery and spectacular dance theatre performance.

The tempestuous story of a bitter and tyrannical matriarch’s efforts to control her wayward daughters, with their jealousies and murderous rivalries, and their passionate and ultimately disastrous pursuit of one man, will be told by Helena (Sadlers Wells, BBC TV),

Rosario Serrano (Ballet Rambert, Duende Flamenco), Josue Vivancos (from the legendary Barcelona Flamenco Dynasty), a quartet of Flamenco dancers, the rich cante jondo voice and dynamic percussion of Manuel de Cadiz, and the Flamenco guitars of Antonio and Jorge.

You are invited to begin the evening at 6.30pm, to share a glass of wine with friends, and sample a selection of tapas (included in ticket price), freshly prepared by:

¡Los Cocineros “Todo es a la Buena de Dios”!

followed by the performance at 8.00pm.

Flamenco Workshop

To learn more about Flamenco dance, and to enhance your enjoyment of the evening, there will be a dance workshop in the morning, led by Helena, where you will be able to learn some basic steps. This will be in the Village Hall from 11.00am (doors open 10.45am) until 12.30pm. Suitable for adults and children from 12 years - limited places so book early.
