They are currently towards the end of their 2010 'Jenny's Mermaid' tour to promote their new album which has received wide attention from press and public alike, earning praise from promoters, radio and BBC. Their 2009 tour with "England Needs Her Hedgerows" won plaudits through BBC interviews and acclaim from audiences and promoters.
Barron Brady are a fresh, new energy in the world of music. They are contemporary songwriters and interpreters of traditional English folk song. They live in Devon and perform nationwide. Drawn to strongly narrative songs with subjects ranging from Devon legend to contemporary rural reportage they invite the listener to accompany them through strange landscapes whose denizens include coffee drinking Mermaids, corn mowing Devils, flying highwaymen and disappearing Hedgerows. They have a dynamic acoustic style combining joy and verve in performance with an assured stage presence garnered from five years of performing nationwide. Simon’s ballistic fingerstyle guitar complemented by Rosalind’s harmonium and whistles underlines their harmony singing.
‘Beautiful Music” - Bob Harris - Radio 2 “Terrific” - Mike Harding - Radio 2
Their music has both vitality and intimacy and their choice of material and song writing offers refreshing honesty. Ros's singing has a delicacy which demands attention and reaches into people's hearts whilst Simon's guitar playing displays formidable technical ability. Their arrangements are innovative and quite beautiful to listen to. As performers they have a warm and engaging stage presence which makes them a delight to listen to. Not to be missed! They are two performers who confidently uphold the richness of the British Folk tradition with superbly crafted, self-written songs and fine interpretations of English folk song, beautifully sung with great sincerity and with impeccable musical accompaniment.Their beguiling lyrics often draw upon the stories, legends and folklore of the South-West.
