Roland Penrose
Roland Penrose escaped from the oppression of Victorian inhibitions to become a surrealist artist and the champion of modern art in Britain. He was known as the biographer of Picasso, Miró, Man Ray and Tąpies and the curator of blockbuster exhibitions at the Tate Gallery. On the way he met and married Lee Miller, his surrealist muse incarnate. This is the story of his life and his relationship to Lee Miller lived by surrealist principles. Their travels in pre-war Europe, Greece, the Balkans and Egypt provided them with the inspiration for some of the works they are best known by. Together they helped shape the face of art in this country and the impact of their Surrealist work endures today.
A reading for five voices, set to a constant stream of original images and written words of the characters involved.
